5 Ways to Make This Weekend Interesting

It’s Friday morning. And yes, we all have started planning for the weekend already!!! Lack of ideas on how to make this weekend fun and interesting should not be a reason for being a couch potato (how often we do that?). Scouting new places, discovering new things and trying out new stuff is always on my agenda. So here’s my guide to 5 Ways to Make This Weekend Interesting.

I’d love to know what you’re upto this weekend – share your ideas (from around the world, your city’s guide will be a fun read too) and tell us which of these did you try – Tweet and Spread the Word #TheWeekendGuide and #StyleDestino.

5 Ways to Make This Weekend Interesting

1. Get inspired and Tickle your shopping bones

Even if you have no intention of indulging in shopping, head to an interesting concept store (shopping malls are a passé) or the equivalent in your town to lift up your mood (and maybe find something unexpected) and get inspired.
If you’re in Bombay (Bombay sounds so much better than Mumbai), you cannot not visit Le Mill, a rice mill converted into a concept store sprawling across 15,000 square feet (an area almost unthinkable in Mumbai for a store) tucked near the Docklands in Wadi Bunder Area of Mumbai. Le Mill is to Bombay what Merci is for Paris. Earlier Le Mill stocked even clothes here including labels like Acne, The Row (Alexander Wang, Isabal Marant, 3.1 Philip Lim, Mawi but now they only have furniture here. Le Mill is definitely worth a visit. They have dedicated areas for interiors (brands like Vanessa Bruno, Design House, Mategot Nagasaki), furniture, art and design books, homeware, fashion and even a cafe. A great place to spend your entire afternoon – browse, enjoy and be inspired by the things you see – even if you don’t want to buy anything.

2. Play tourist in your own town

Why scout for beauties around the world when you have plenty in your own town. We often miss the precious things closer to us. So pack up your picnic bags and head out for some tourist action around your town.

Mumbaikars, its time you visit (or revisit) the beautiful Elephanta Caves (A nice picnic box can’t hurt either! I am currently obsessed with Boxsal. Smart, chic and very functional – I’d head out for a touristy venture just to eat in these ultra hip, eco-friendly picnic boxes).

3. Channel your inner chic

Style Destino

Go frolic in a pair of coloured shorts (I love this candy-pink color pop!) with a simple shirt and heels for a casual chic look. If the summer days are gone, a trench would add the right amount of chic to the look.

That’s one thing you love about Bombay, you can be dressed in your summer clothes all round the year.

4. Pamper yourself au naturel way

When was the last time you indulged in something close to nature? This weekend carve out some ‘me’ time and pamper yourself with some fresh from the nature beauty treatments. Unwind with a good body  massage or give your hair a beauty treat with fresh herbs and vegetables for that ultra-shine.

If you’re in Bombay, pamper yourself at Nirmal Herbals (Bandra or Chembur). I love their hair treatment thats done with all the goodies – fresh herb paste, fresh dry fruits and hibiscus paste, papaya pulp and coconut milk and a very relaxing head massage. Guilt-free indulgence.

5. Fine dine the vegetarian way

Prove it wrong that fine dining and vegetarian meal are oxymorons. Enjoy a luxe meal in a plush vegetarian restaurant (look up for options on Google). If you can’t find one, create your own luxe restaurant setting, and make it even better by inviting some friends over (don’t worry if you haven’t planned anything, impromptu parties are often the best ones). Jordan of OhHappyDays throws some fabulous parties at the unthinkable locations creating perfect setting for a small dinner with her fabulous table settings and decor. Get some DIY lunch/dinner party ideas from OhHappyDay – my fav is their Pop Up Golden Gate Dinner Party.

Tuskers at Sofitel Hotel (BKC) in Mumbai is the perfect place for vegetarian Indian fine dining. Great restaurant and amazing food.

hope you have a wonderful weekend!!!

Vegan and Jain food in Budapest? Everyone told me I’ll have a hard time. But not only did I fall in love with the city for its beauty and old world charm, ruin bars, fab party scene and breathtaking sunset views of Danube river, but also amazing #veganfood.

Here are my fav vegan restaurants in Budapest that are also Jain friendly:
🌱 @tranzitbyflow - the chef custom made Jain meals for us and everything was yum
🌱 @napfenyes.etterem - their Somali dumplings are out of the world, it’s vanilla carob sponge cake with whipped cream. You can’t leave the city without trying them (I went every day just for this to this restaurant)
🌱 @vegazzihun - vegan pizzeria in Budapest 🥰
🌱 @theplanteen - pancakes & desserts
🌱 @ganeshavegaetelbar - vegan Indian food
🌱 @vegangardenbudapest - not very Jain friendly though
🌱 @szabad_vegan_bistro - call them if u want jain options
