Black Lace and Diamonds

I just came back from an amazing holiday with my favourite girls in Malaysia and here I am back to work with a lot to catch up on. I’ve started a new venture which means a lot of work pressure that involves juggling between my ongoing work as a wealth manager, the new start-up and of course the blog. But oh boy I am totally loving this phase of new beginnings, new learnings and a whole lot of challenge.

I am excited to reveal pictures of a new project that I took up, between all this work, – a shoot with the most amazing high jewelry pieces. I’ve had this most gorgeous black lace dress from Karen Millen unworn since forever – I was waiting for a special occasion to wear it {oh yes I am also a victim of this problem once in a while}. Once we decided the date of the shoot, I couldn’t wait to wear it.

For a glam luxe look the black dress called for some real shine. So to elevate the look I wore a mix of breathtaking diamond jewelery, thanks to Minawala. It was so much fun to work with the Minawala team, but the hardest part was selecting what to wear with my dress. I was spoilt for choice with the most beautiful jewels I have ever worn, every piece was exquisite and I wanted to wear each one of them.

I picked a multi-layer diamond necklace from Minawala’s collection that seemed to melt down perfectly with the black lace neckline of my dress. I teamed it with two cocktail rings – a matching diamond ring in white gold and a beautiful emerald and diamond ring {the outfit was screaming for some colour}.

Minawala is famous for their coloured stone and diamond creations and I could totally see why, they had beautiful coloured precious stones set with diamonds with such fine detailings that captivate the light perfectly. Every piece was lust worthy.

I finished it off with my brown and rose gold watch, a matchy black lace clutch and the new vegan gold Steve Madden stilettos. Once I had the dress on it dawned on me how much I have put on since I bought this, time to hit the gym. Thankfully all that insanely beautiful jewelry is taking away the attention.

don’t travel solo…
“you’re married, go with your husband” — We’ve all heard this before…
but here’s the truth… solo travel hits different.

you reconnect with yourself, travel at your own pace, do things you love {and finally do everything you wanted to but was always pushing it back}, 🍰 eat what you want (all those vegan desserts without anyone watching you ☺️🙃), talk to strangers (a lot), sit alone without feeling weird ….. and somewhere in all that, you meet yourself.

scary? Not at all.
worth it? every single time. ✨

Did you know your fav lipstick may have bug juice 🐞 ? Shocking?
Truth is - most lipsticks in the market contain
🐞 carmine = crushed cochineal beetles
🐑 lanolin = grease derived from sheep’s wool (waxy greasy substance secreted by sheep’s skin)
🐝 beeswax = bee vomit

Who wants to slather their lips with bug juice?
☺️ Didn’t think so.

Thankfully, there are plenty of brands doing it right. 💄 I’ve put together a handy list so you can shop vegan lipstick with ease:

👉🏻 #VeganLipstick Brands:
@violette_fr, @elfcosmetics, @kvdbeauty @milkmakeup, @tower28beauty, @inikaorganic @axiology_beauty, @lilylolouk @rarebeauty,

👉🏻 Cruelty-Free brands with Vegan options:
🐰 cruelty-free doesn’t mean a product is vegan. It simply means it’s not tested on animals, so be careful.
@tartecosmetics @rmsbeauty, @doseofcolors (most products are vegan), @charlottetilbury, @glossier @urbandecaycosmetics @nyxcosmetics

🇮🇳 Vegan Indian makeup brands
@asabeautyindia @kirobeauty @disguisecosmetics @colorchemistry.in @lovechildbymasaba @hyueofficial

Next time you buy makeup – make sure it’s #crueltyfree and #vegan! And look out for
- Natural Red 4
- E120
- *CI 75470 (misspelled in video as CI 17470 🙈)
- Carmine or Carmine lake
- Cochineal extract
- Carminic Acid

👆🏼 they’re all different names of carmine (bug juice)
