French Tuesdays Mumbai: 1st Anniversary Bash

French Tuesdays – the worldwide rendezvous club celebrated its first anniversary party of Mumbai Chapter last night at one of the city’s most hip venue Blue Frog. This member’s exclusive club organises couture nightlife every month, once a month, on Tuesday (hence the name French Tuesdays) at the most happening venues worldwide from New York, LA, San Francisco, Mexico, São Paulo to Paris, London to Tokyo, Bangkok, Hong Kong and our very own Mumbai.

A white Audi A7 welcomed us at the entrance and the event got my brownie points when the brimming photographer clicked us with FT’s backdrop giving a celebrity-like treatment and I spotted lots of fashion people right at the entrance including Bandana Tewari, Narendra Kumar.

Dressed appropriately to the theme of the night: “Chic & Elegant” with a touch of something ‘white’, the wonderful crowd emanated electrifying energy (yes even on a Tuesday!!!) and rocked the party as the hours progressed. The white theme was infectious as even those clad in non-whites were quick enough to grab the white hats (party goodies) to illuminate in the dark while others waved white French Tuesdays flags.

Until 11pm I had a feeling that the turnout was low looking at the empty floor; almost making me believe that the Tuesday thing didn’t really click with the Mumbaikars, considering how long our days are. But I got it all wrong. In next thirty minutes the floor was buzzing with clickety-clat of heels and thumping of feet. By midnight the party was in full bloom despite what-could-have-been-better music. Hey, I am not criticizing, it was still a Tuesday night, which called for some rocking music to lift the spirits, the point which the DJ completely missed (sorry DJ Clement, but we had to make the music work and not the other way round).

In fact the enthusiasm of the crowd kept the staff at Blue Frog on their toes and the cash counter clicking (you pay for your drinks and food) even at half past midnight, when I finally decided to call it a night as the reality of a Wednesday morning dawned on me.

I couldn’t help thinking that a partnership between GQ and French Tuesdays was an apt one. FT certainly needed to ensure the Mumbai chapter does not defame its name considering the (bad) sartorial choices of a large part of the men population at the event (oh I am not starting on the women at the moment as I could still spot a decent number of well-dressed girls at the event but the same could not be said for the opposite sex). Talking of well-dressed men, I am so missing Milan – the men there certainly take the business of dressing up seriously and I have never seen so many good looking immaculately dressed men all at once ever in my life. Noops not even in Britain.

Honestly as much as I love Mumbai I have to admit that people in Mumbai just don’t know how to dress up. They’re yet to apprendre (French word for learn) meaning of chic and elegant (ok I am going off topic now, back to track).

French Tuesdays?
So what do you require to attend an FT event? You ought to be either a member or be invited by a FT member (unless it’s a ‘member’s only’ event) to attend their parties. A FT member can attend any FT event across the world. And how do you become a member? You need to be sponsored by an existing member to become one.

🇳🇱Netherlands now officially recommends reducing meat consumption, cutting cheese intake by half, and increasing plant-based proteins.

Why? Because food choices impacts m our health, and also the climate.

And the shift goes beyond advice….. Amsterdam has even banned meat advertisements in public spaces to encourage lower-emission food choices.

A fascinating example of how climate policy is increasingly showing up in everyday life. 🌱

What can we do?
Let’s ditch animal foods and embrace a plant based diet. Compassion + health

Thought cruelty-free meant no harm to animals? Thought you were buying ethical? Think again 😬😬

👉🏻 There’s a difference brands won’t tell you — 🐰 #crueltyfree doesn’t guarantee no animals were harmed. A cruelty free product can still have fish oil, bug juice or other animal ingredients.

You need to make sure the products you’re buying are both Cruelty-Free & #Vegan!

Let us get back to basics - slow living, clean (#plantbased) eating, buying what we need, ♻️ reusing-repurposing-recycling, treating food as medicine, less screen time and more living, connecting with nature, 🌎 giving planet the respect it deserves!

Because #EarthDay is everyday.

don’t travel solo…
“you’re married, go with your husband” — We’ve all heard this before…
but here’s the truth… solo travel hits different.

you reconnect with yourself, travel at your own pace, do things you love {and finally do everything you wanted to but was always pushing it back}, 🍰 eat what you want (all those vegan desserts without anyone watching you ☺️🙃), talk to strangers (a lot), sit alone without feeling weird ….. and somewhere in all that, you meet yourself.

scary? Not at all.
worth it? every single time. ✨
