Stepping into 2019 With Sparkle & Shine

Stepping into New Year, believing in myself and the power of good. All sparkle and shine.

I choose to compete with my ego, procrastination, anger, not with other people
I choose to think outside the box
I choose to create new paths, not always follow them
I choose to never let vanity take over my ethics
I choose to buy less, choose well and make it last
I choose to give back to society, not just keep taking from it
I choose to be a better version of myself everyday

Wearing Tamara Jarmon Top, River Island Skirt, Prada Handbag, Sissi London Shoes

Some old, some new – the bag I am wearing has been in my wardrobe for over 8 years now. Everything I buy, I’ve committed to wearing it atleast a 25-times.

I am making a conscious effort to choose ethical brands over fast fashion, and while I am not even close to keeping up to this commitment, I am not giving up on this.

Ethical brands in Dubai can be harder to find, not always fitting the pocket and shopping online can sometimes be tricky. You don’t get deliveries, the duties and taxes add up to the cost, and if it doesn’t fit right the whole hassle of returning back is a nightmare. Yet, there is no excuse – because where there is a will there is a way.

So the goal is to buy less, choose well and make it last. Favoring ethical brands, never buying anything that comes from animal suffering – getting to the human suffering too very soon!

How about you? What are your ethical fashion commitments?

🇳🇱Netherlands now officially recommends reducing meat consumption, cutting cheese intake by half, and increasing plant-based proteins.

Why? Because food choices impacts m our health, and also the climate.

And the shift goes beyond advice….. Amsterdam has even banned meat advertisements in public spaces to encourage lower-emission food choices.

A fascinating example of how climate policy is increasingly showing up in everyday life. 🌱

What can we do?
Let’s ditch animal foods and embrace a plant based diet. Compassion + health

Thought cruelty-free meant no harm to animals? Thought you were buying ethical? Think again 😬😬

👉🏻 There’s a difference brands won’t tell you — 🐰 #crueltyfree doesn’t guarantee no animals were harmed. A cruelty free product can still have fish oil, bug juice or other animal ingredients.

You need to make sure the products you’re buying are both Cruelty-Free & #Vegan!

Let us get back to basics - slow living, clean (#plantbased) eating, buying what we need, ♻️ reusing-repurposing-recycling, treating food as medicine, less screen time and more living, connecting with nature, 🌎 giving planet the respect it deserves!

Because #EarthDay is everyday.

don’t travel solo…
“you’re married, go with your husband” — We’ve all heard this before…
but here’s the truth… solo travel hits different.

you reconnect with yourself, travel at your own pace, do things you love {and finally do everything you wanted to but was always pushing it back}, 🍰 eat what you want (all those vegan desserts without anyone watching you ☺️🙃), talk to strangers (a lot), sit alone without feeling weird ….. and somewhere in all that, you meet yourself.

scary? Not at all.
worth it? every single time. ✨
